Defying The Odds To Become A Successful Hafiz (8 min read)
Imagine being born blind, unable to see the words of the Qur’ān before you. Imagine being unable to speak, your voice silenced. Imagine lacking the ability to read or write, the very skills many rely upon to commit the Qur’ān to memory. Now, consider being elderly, with the years having added their weight to your shoulders. Would you still embark on the monumental journey of memorising the Qur’ān? It may seem insurmountable to many, but I have stories to share that will challenge your perceptions of what is possible.
In a world where challenges often deter us from pursuing our dreams, the individuals I am about to tell you about stand as shining examples. They have shattered barriers, transcended limitations, and defied the odds to become successful in becoming Hāfiz—those who have memorised the Qur’ān in its entirety.
Read these stories and share them. I pray they give you the motivation you need to carry you forward in your own journey.
Powerful Hifz Stories: Memorizing Quran On A Plane To Old Age (5 min read)
When you’re memorising the Qur’ān, you need to tap into the Hifz stories and experiences of others. In this article, I share four amazing stories that give us an opportunity to reflect on what’s possible and stories that will help motivate you in your journey.
Teaching and Motivating Children To Memorise Quran (18 min read)
The following are the experiences of Umm Khalid, a mother, a homeschooler, and much more. She shares her Hifth journey, how she teaches children Qur’ān and how to motivate them.
📖 THE DIARY OF A HĀFIZ
This is where we try to learn by watching others memorise. Today I share a roundup reporting the progress of a brother and a sister in their pursuit of memorising the Qur'ān.
Muhammad, 36, still on Surah an-Nisā’
Background: After forgetting what he memorised (half the Qur'ān) and kept struggling to start again. So he decided to share his diary and mission with us. After 19 weeks of struggle, he finally started. It took him a few months to do a few Juz’. He’s a few months away from having a years diary complete.
What he accomplished last week (1 year, week 5):
“I am progressing through the 6th Juz’ now, alhamdulillah, doing a page a day for 5-6 days and then review. I am reciting a juz’ from the back for my revision. I have remained consistent for the week. It’s been helpful again to make sure that I’m doing something in two sessions rather than one big session. One big session, especially when delayed becomes a lazy session. Still a lot to work on even after a year but I’m going to keep going. You should too!”
Umm Zayd, a mother
Background: Umm Zayd is 28, a mother to a 11 month old. She started memorising after the birth of her son and until now she has had no schedule. She would consolidate and recite to her aunt whenever her child allowed her the time but now she has made the intention to memorise a page of the Qur’ān daily, in shā’ Allāh and recite her lessons once a week for correction.
Where is she now? Alhamdulillāh, she has completed Juz’ 30, Surah al-Baqarah and Surah Al e Imran. She reviews both surahs daily but I does not review the 30th as it's solidified. She decided to start Surah an-Nisā’ on October 1st, doing one side daily in shā’ Allāh and as revision she will alternate between Surah al-Baqarah and Al e Imran.
Week 2:
“I use a standard 15 line mushaf and since my daily target is a page a day it was as follows
02.10.'23 -memorized page 78, revised Surah Al e imran
03.10.23- missed memorizing, revised Surah Baqarah
04.10.23- page 79, Surah Al e imran
05.10.23 -page 80, Surah Baqarah
06.10.23 -page 81, Surah Al e imran
07.10.23 -page 82 , Surah Baqarah
08.10.23 - missed memorizing ,Surah Al e imran.
My ambitions of a page a day were very quickly humbled at the very beginning of Surah Nisa, hence I missed a couple of days to consolidate previous day's memorization. In sha Allah hope to keep the momentum up”

⚒️ MOTIVATION, TIPS & TOOLS
“We recently asked a group of people to describe their Hifz journey in 3 words and one person said:
“Conversations with Allah”
SubhanAllah it really got us thinking.
Reciting and memorizing the Quran is not just an act of worship but indeed a profound dialogue with Allah.
The guidance we seek, the answers we search for, healing, comfort and hope are all right there.
But how many of us give the Quran the time and effort that it is so rightly owed? If we treated the journey like a series of conversations with Allah and really forged a connection with His words, we’d surely start to see and feel the effects in even our day-to-day.
May Allah make us from among those who find solace in His book and allow us to become companions of the Quran.”

“Since the day I memorized the Quran, I've stuck to my daily routine without fail. Every day, at the same time, I revise 2 sections. No matter what life throws at me, this routine reminds me of Allah's guidance, offering stability amidst change.” [HifzTips]
