Many brothers and sisters find themselves in a situation where they’re memorising the Qur’ān but are battling porn addiction. Is it possible to memorise the Qur’ān with such a dark world hovering over you?

📖 THE DIARY OF A HĀFIZ
This is where we try to learn by watching others memorise. Here's a roundup reporting the progress of a brother and two sisters in their pursuit of memorising the Qur'ān.
Muhammad, 35, starting all over again
Background: He'd forgotten what he memorised (half the Qur'ān) and has kept struggling to start again ever since. After 19 weeks of struggle, he finally started again. He is now in his 3rd month of memorisation.
What he accomplished last week: "Last week (days 88 to 95 of the journey) I was able to revise a quarter per Juz' (1 to 4) every day and recite the first quarter of an-Nisā' each day. With each day, Surah an-Nisā' is getting better although it is still weak. In terms of memorisation, I did the first and second rukū' from Juz' 5. They're also weak so I have work to do. I feel that I need to still find my feet with routine and reciting at night either makes me tired or lazier. The best way I have found so far is to spread out the revision throughout random pockets of time during the morning/afternoon/evening/night but I'm not consistent with it. Also because I'm doing this alone, I often don't record myself. Qari spoke to me about possibly launching something for us where we can submit audio to him alongside questions, and get personalised feedback, and I would love to see that happen!"
Leana, a first-time mother
Background: She memorised the last 7/8 juz in her late teens/the early twenties on her own, without a teacher, never managing to complete memorisation. Now she's started again.
Week 9: Not heard from her this week! Allāh grant her health, strength and ease.
Aishah, a 5th-year Medical Student who's also a student of Arabiyyah
Background: She started hifdh when she was a child and memorised half. But recently started again from Juz' 1. She's had two good weeks of memorisation (an-Nisaa') and revision.
Week 9: "AlhamduliLlah, the week went well. Hifdh: I memorised 6 pages during the weekend as planned: Suratul An'am verses 147 - Suratul A'araf verse 30. Muraaja'a: I did Juz 3 and Juz 4 last week and I've started Juz 5 today (Monday). For my Kahf till Naas, I'm done with Juz 26 and will start with Juz 25 today. A Rub'u (quarter) daily as usual."
Allāh grant us all success and ease on this path!
