Introducing 3 New Quran Memorisation Tools (4 min read)
Bismillah. When one begins the pursuit of memorising the QurāÄn, they are not merely entering a journey of words and verses. Itās a voyage of the heart, a profound commitment, a spiritual endeavour that, when coupled with sincere intention, becomes a path leading straight to AllÄh. Yet, as any seasoned traveller would tell you, even the most soulful journeys benefit from the right tools and resources.
The Need for Memorisation Tools
Before diving into the tools, letās discuss why they are essential. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ļ·ŗ) highlighted the significance of the QurāÄn in our lives, and many of us are driven by the desire to embed it in our hearts. But modern life, with its endless distractions and commitments, often leaves us lost, struggling to find a consistent methodology.
Many of you email me, or DM me asking me to help you create a schedule, or a hifz plan, give you a method, and direct you in your struggles. So I saw the need to create something that may offer some help.
How To Layer Your Approach to Revision & Addressing Mistakes (5 min read)
In todayās fast-paced world, the art of memorisation is too often taken for granted. Especially when it comes to the beautiful verses of the Manifest QurāÄn, the journey of Hifz can be an overwhelming one. Yet, for a dedicated few, the intrinsic value of preserving the Words of the QurāÄn in oneās heart remains an unparalleled endeavour.
One such individual, who is memorising at 48, has so far achieved a commendable milestone of memorising six Juzā of the QurāÄn. His commitment is awe-inspiring: a full-time job, family commitments, and still, the hunger to not only memorise but deeply understand and reflect upon the verses. However, like many of us, he found himself trapped in a challenging maze ā not of memorisation, but of revision.
Can You Memorize The Qurāan Without Revision? [Method] (10 min read)
Unfortunately not. You canāt memorize anything and keep it without some form of regular recall. But there is a QurāÄn memorisation method that claims you can memorise without revision. When I first heard about it around 7/8 years ago, I was surprised to say the least.
I tell you about it in this article.
š THE DIARY OF A HÄFIZ
This is where we try to learn by watching others memorise. Today I share a roundup reporting the progress of a brother and a sister in their pursuit of memorising the Qur'Än.
Muhammad, 36, still on Surah an-NisÄā
Background: After forgetting what he memorised (half the Qur'Än) and kept struggling to start again. So he decided to share his diary and mission with us. After 19 weeks of struggle, he finally started. It took him a few months to do a few Juzā. Heās a few months away from having a years diary complete.
What he accomplished last week (days 339 to 345):
"Iāve had another bad week and need to improve dramatically. I donāt shy away from sharing these ups and downs. Iām not like others that seem to have a great week all the time. Iām trying to get consistent. This is the real world struggle. I managed to recite some new pages but have hardly revised."
Iman on a mission to complete her Hifz
Background: āWhen I was younger, I started memorizing some of the 30th juz, but I never finished and I didn't really think much about memorizing the Qur'Än. I officially started my Hifz journey towards the end of 2018. I experienced some struggles like excessive sleepiness, and I learned later that it was depression. AlhamdulilÄh I've been trying to change my lifestyle a bit more after getting some therapy, and I am feeling better than some years ago.ā
Current Goal: āCurrently, I am memorizing my 12th juz, but I have some weak ajzaa' that I'm also trying to get back, in shÄ AllÄh. My goal is to finish memorizing by the end of the next Hijri year (1445), in shÄ AllÄh.ā
Week 7:
āLast week (week 7) was quite rough as something happened in the family, but AlhamdulilÄh. I'm doing better this week.
Week 8:
AlhamdulilÄh. AllÄh ta'Äla has blessed me with finishing my re-memorization of 5th juz. I had been stuck on 5th for a very long time. Many months. In shÄ AllÄh soon, I will be starting my new memorization again. In terms of revision, unfortunately I haven't revised much lately. I hope to pick up now that school has started, in shÄ AllÄh.ā
