How To Memorize a Juz’ Perfectly Every 10 Days (5 min read)
Our brains focus on the present and gradually forget previously stored or memorised information unless it is reviewed or recalled on a regular basis. The tongue begins to automatically utter what’s memorized the most and recalled the most, and it errs in what it does not.
The following method focuses on overcoming the problem of forgetting memorization, which is primarily caused by a focus solely on memorising without a review of the old. This is also a cause of mixing things up, confusion over the similarities, and forgetting the following verses from the next page.
How To Memorise Surah an-Nisā’ (8 min read)
I recall how difficult it was to memorise Surah an-Nisā’. It wasn’t so much that the memorisation was difficult. I was struggling with all the similarities and becoming confused. Does that sound familiar to you? If it does, you are one of the thousands of people that have struggled with this surah. If anything, it’s the first quarter of the surah. Especially the verses about inheritance (11 onwards). In this article, I will share my tips and those from the community on how you can memorise the surah without such struggles.

📖 THE DIARY OF A HĀFIZ
This is where we try to learn by watching others memorise. Here's a roundup reporting the progress of three brothers and two sisters in their pursuit of memorising the Qur'ān.
Muhammad, 35, starting all over again
Background: He'd forgotten what he memorised (half the Qur'ān) and has kept struggling to start again ever since. After 19 weeks of struggle, he finally started again. He is now in his 3rd month of memorisation.
What he accomplished last week: "The majority of the week (days 82 to 87) was revision of every Juz' (1-4) after completing Juz' 4 on Day 85. I did a quarter a day from each Juz'! There were mistakes and confusions between the Juz' that I need to address this week. I also found the last quarters to be weak. I plan to start the 5th Juz' and continue with the quarter revision system."
Leana, a first-time mother
Background: She memorised the last 7/8 juz in her late teens/the early twenties on her own, without a teacher, never managing to complete memorisation. Now she's started again.
Week 8: "I’d travelled to my parents last week and again my daughter and I managed to catch a very bad bug. The hope was to get a lot of Quran done as my family would be able to watch her but that went out of the window! It made me very aware of how much we take our time and health for granted. I recovered enough to get some more pages done over the weekend. I have now memorised and read the 1st Juz to my teacher as well as Juz 30 & 29 as revision. This week was a turning point in that I didn’t feel the pressure of having to read X amount every lesson. I have accepted that every week will not look the same due to my circumstances and as long as I bring even an ayah to my teacher then that is a win."
Aishah, a 5th-year Medical Student who's also a student of Arabiyyah
Background: She started hifdh when she was a child and memorised half. But recently started again from Juz' 1. She's had two good weeks of memorisation (an-Nisaa') and revision.
Week 8: "AlhamduliLlah, the week went well. I started off with my new plan for the month. Hifdh: Started with Juz 8. I memorised 6 pages during the weekend as planned- Suratul An'am verses 111 - 146. Muraaja'a: I wanted to build up the amount I revise from scratch so I started with a Hizb daily. I did the first two Ajza last week and I've started Juz 3 today (Monday). For my Kahf till Naas, I started Juz 26 today(Monday), so a Rub'u daily as usual. What assisted me? - I supplicate to Allah to make it easy for me because no matter how much I plan, only Allah will make it easy. - I divided everything I have to do daily into bits and set different times for them. This makes the portions feel less overwhelming. - I read articles on Qari's blog. They are really amazing and there's so much to learn from each piece. Allahuma Baarik. - I recite the daily portions on my Fard Salaah and Nawaafil also."
Allāh grant us all success and ease on this path!
